Sept. 23 at Macadam's Bar & Grill

First time at Macadam's and they know how to do it. A week of radio promotions from K105 "The Buzz" (OK they called us "Bedhead") that stoked a nice showing for Macadam's tropical party. Lots of Hawaiin shirts and palm trees--and special blue "Boat Drinks" by Tarantula Tequila. Nice stage, great sound system. Met some nice people--"Steve" from Northwest Parrot Heads. He lives the ParrotHead life--follows Jimmy all over and visited 10 Margarativille restaurants in 10 consecutive days. That's serious. Hope to see more of the Northwest Parrot Heads at future Beadhead gigs. Thanks to Matt the manager at Macadam's. Let's do it again.

A Beadhead Summer

Now that it is officially fall of 08 and summer has passed, here is a brief rundown of our Beadhead activities over the summer. As lead guitarist for Beadhead, I am not entitled to a microphone, so this is my chance to share experiences of quite a busy summer season for all you Beadhead fans. Thank you all for coming out to see us this summer.

OUTDOOR LIVING
We had several shows this summer; and as I reflect back on previous summer gigging I don't recall any summer that we played as much outdoors as we did in summer of 08. A quick rundown of our outdoor activities included a few stints at Wanker's Corners, Hillsboro Tuesday Marketplace ( always a Beadhead favorite) the 50 yardline of Liberty High School ( kind of looked like Queen at Wembley Stadium ( without anyone in the stands) and twice at the Streets of Tanasbourne. Earlier this summer the Streets of Tanasbourne hosted the open casting call for the new season of CBS Survivor. We offered the entertainment for the long line of Survivor hopefuls.

BARS, PRIVATE PARTIES, BENEFITS and MORE BARS
We enjoyed playing for several events this past summer and our schedule kept us busy weekly ( sometimes twice a week) entertaining in our favorite watering holes such as Bleachers, Bethany Village Grill, Wankers, Macadams, and Billy Bangs. We continued to "Buffettize" patrons at private events also. Summer ended with a trip to Newport in support of a local fundraising event.

SOUND AND GEAR
Of course as a guitarist, I have to talk about enhancements to gearover the summer season. Our sound continues to evolve and thanks to Steve's professional arrangement with Seymour Duncan ( his day job) we've both been fortunate to demo some of their products. In late spring we both had our Fender Strats fitted with a Seymour Duncan humbucker in the bridge position to create additional sonic flexibilty, and our latest score is the incorporation of the Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic into our effects chain. Steve has moved from the Boss GT3 multi effects processor and his Roland to the Twin Tube going into the clean channel of his vintage Fender Princeton Chorus. It creates a multitude of classic Fender sound supported by the growl of latest in vacuum tube technology.

As for my main sound, it continues as clean stereo digital incorporating my Boss GT8 into a Marshall MG 250 Stereo combo. The FDD technology on my Marshall emulates the reactors of a valve amplifier. My digital signal prior to reaching the amplifier is now linked to the Classic Twin Tube which provides real tube preamp sound and feel. This is then coupled with the clean, quiet sound and reliability of digital solid state technology. Because my GT8 provides real amplifier and cabinet modeling, I continue to have endless sound possibilities and can warm up and fatten my sound with the Twin Tube preamp. For my clean signal I continue to rely on the modeling of a Fender Twin Reverb, Hughes and Kettner Triamp, and Roland JC120. I use the Fender Twin and Matchless models for slight overdrive and for full overdrive and distortion I am able to emulate a Vintage 59 Marshall or modern Marshall Stack.

SIGNING OFF
For everyone that supported us this summer and continue to support us, thank you. After October we'll have about 6 weeks off to work up some new material and then we'll be back at in starting in mid November. Check us out at www.beadheadrocks.com and come out to see us.
